Privacy Policy
Last updated 20 September 2026
This policy explains what Make Barcode Online does — and does not do — with your data. The short version: the barcode generator runs entirely in your browser, and the values you encode never reach us.
Barcode data
When you type a value into the generator, it is encoded on your own device by a JavaScript library that was downloaded with the page. The value is not transmitted to our servers, not logged, and not stored anywhere outside your browser tab. You can verify this by opening your browser's developer tools, switching to the Network tab, and generating a barcode: no request is made. Closing the tab discards the value entirely.
Information stored on your device
We store a single preference in your browser's local storage: whether you chose the light or dark theme. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes on our own account.
Analytics
We may use a privacy-conscious analytics tool to count page views and understand which pages are useful. Where analytics is enabled, it records aggregate information such as page URL, referrer, approximate country, and device type. It does not record the values you encode into barcodes, because those never leave your browser in the first place.
Advertising
This site may display advertising from third parties, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising throughGoogle Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies viaaboutads.info. Advertising is never placed over the generator itself.
Hosting
The site is served as static files from a content delivery network. Like virtually all web hosting, the network processes standard request metadata — IP address, user agent, timestamp — in order to deliver the page and protect against abuse.
Children
This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not operate accounts and do not collect personal information you have submitted to us, there is normally no personal data of yours for us to retrieve, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, contact us and we will respond.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date above will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
